New Orleans Vacation Rental House
Help me!!
I'm searching for a vacation rental home for a family reunion this Labor Day weekend. The problem is, I need to sleep 18-20 people. Does anyone know of a house near the French Quarter for rent? If not, has anyone stayed with a large group by renting multiple rooms in the French Quarter? Does anyone know a realtor who deals with vacation rentals in New Orleans? Basically any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I have tried vrbo.com and cyberrentals.com and have not had much luck.
Thank You,

You may be having problems because such rentals aren't legal in the city. I think it has to be 30 days or more. Of course, you will probably find something hidden online but since illegal rentals can be fined they are getting scarce!
Try a B&B or small hotel. You can take the whole thing. Some of the small inns in the French Quarter probably have 10-15 rooms.

I was thinking the same thing - try renting out a whole inn, or several rooms in a couple inns that are close together. I'd just make a list of interesting looking places in your price range and start calling to see what their availibility is.
BTW, I think a family reunion in New Orleans sounds like a blast.

Dan is absolutely right. Rather than getting hooked up with an illegal rental, you might look into the Quarter House Resort (in the French Quarter), which is a timeshare that rents to non-owners. We stayed there a couple of years ago in a HUGE fully furnished condo. My only complaint was that our bedrooms didn't have windows and after several days it got a little claustrophic. In any event, it's a big place and they have lots of accommodations of all varieties. Another good option is a B&B (make sure you get one that's licensed). For licensed B&Bs check out bbnola.com

You should know that Labor Day is Southern Decadence, the "gay and lesbian Mardi Gras" weekend. Parade through the Quarter and typical New Orleans craziness. If that bothers the family, though, another weekend or the Garden District may be better choices.
