Six fun-loving adults will be visiting NO for the first time in Oct. I'm wondering if you know of any vacation homes/condos/apt to rent near the French Quarter. I've looked through all (I think) the threads on this site and couldn't find anything. I've also looked at search engines, found a few but nothing that fits what we want. We need at least a three bedroom home, for sanity sake. We don't want separate hotel rooms. Anyhow, thanks for reading my post and I appreciate any help.

Take a look at www.vrbo.com, a site where owners rent out their vacation homes. It's been recommended a lot on this forum.

Hi Caroline

Short-term rentals (under 30 or 60 days, I can't recall) are illegal in New Orleans. This applies to condos, homes, etc. This may be way many places only advertise on the internet, etc. I honestly don't know of a reputable way to secure a place.

Jim is right. Here's an alternate solution. Check out the Quarter House; it's a timeshare in the French Quarter. Though you'd have to get 2 units (they don't have any with 3 bedrooms) this place has a really good reputation and you'd have a full kitchen there, too. They have a website at quarterhouse.com/

I've actually spoken to a nice gentleman that rents out the Ingram Haus located at 1012 Elysian Fields Ave. Do you know this area, adjacent to the FQ?

I've checked out vrbo.com and there are a few listing there. I'm waiting for them to contact me w/ availability. I'll check on quarterhouse. Thanks.

The address on Elysian Fields is on the "wrong" side of Rampart. Rampart itself is dicey enough that you'd want to take cabs at night if you stay there...I wouldn't stay on the other side as it can be very rough.
