New Orleans/Sugar Bowl/Hotels
Looking for hotel for Sugar Bowl in French Quarter. I've called many of the hotels and have found most are booked, Marriott, Doubletree, etc. Someone recommended the Hotel St.Ann Marie but I read an awful review of this hotel on a New Orleans website. Any Fodorites have an opinion of this hotel? I can get LeRichelieu also and stayed there once many years ago and thought it was fine. Just looking for other opinions.

I have a question about LeRichelieu - they don't have non-smoking rooms. Said they put "a strong ionizer" in rooms to rid them of smoke. Any non-smokers stayed there and what did you think? Also checked this websites rants and raves and can't find the Hotel St. Ann Marie Antoinette at all. I'd really appreciate any info on this one.

Paige,
I'd take whatever I could get at this point for Sugar Bowl..you're lucky to get anything in the quarter this late!
www.tripadvisor.com is a good place to look up reviews of hotels too.

The closest hotel to the game would be the Hyatt, but they might be sold-out by now. Here's a link to a whole bunch of hotel websites you can look into....

My husband and I have a reservation at the Amassador Hotel in New Orleans for January 2, 3 and 4th that we no longer need and would like to cancel. (USC fans!) The trouble is it's a non-cancellable reservation. Are you by any chance interested?

eegrub - Sorry - we booked also non-cancellable at Hotel St. Marie. We booked before the bowl announcement and I had concerns after our loss to KSU. I've heard that you can sell these on ebay. Also, you might check with the hotel and see if they are sold out. Maybe they would let you cancel for a fee if they can re-sell the room

Unfortunately, hotel rooms aren't quite as "in demand" as they once were since LSU was invited rather than USC. Many Tiger fans are local and will drive to the game.
Some local hotels have been using tickets as the "lure" for LSU fans, however. If you want the tickets, you have to buy the 3-night room package! Since tickets are scarce and VERY expensive, many fans are buying!
SO, if you already have game tickets, eegrub, sell them with the room!
