New Orleans - 6 bedroom house for Family Reunion
We are having a family reunion in New Orleans this new year. We need a 6 bedroom house suitable for age ranges 9 -88! (12 of us in total)
One option available is the Auguste Tete House, on Esplanade near intersection with Johnson (zipcode 70116).
Is anyone familiar with this house (which is in 4 apartments, we would take all of them)? What is this area like? I think it's about 8 blocks from the French Quarter, but never having been to New Orleans we have no idea whether it would be suitable for the family and walking into the French Quarter. Someone said to me we may not be comfortable walking in this area. Thoughts and suggestions please.

That's NOT about 8 blocks from the FQ - It's 11 blocks just to reach Rampart!
Try these:
http://www.vrbo.com/211400 (4 Queen beds, 3 Extra Long Full Beds, 2 King Beds, and 2 Twins) Two feet from the FQ.
http://www.vrbo.com/39933 (many, many beds) Even better location: 1 block to "nicer" part of FQ and 3 blocks to Frenchman St.

Here's another consideration. My family of four stayed at the Quarter House several years ago and it was wonderful. I'm not sure how many units you'd need to house 12, but I'm sure it could be very easily arranged.
Our unit included 2 bedrooms, 2 or 3 baths (I can't remember), a fully-equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer and a living room/dining room with a table that seated 8. The pool was tiny and uninviting, but the location is in the French Quarter and very convenient.

I have stayed twice at the Tete House and it was a wonderful experience for my family. I've stayed at many properties over the last few years as my son is now living in New Orleans. Tete House is definitely 8 blocks from the French Quarter and is a value, believe me! The person who posted in September must be promoting his own property...so much for forums! Not only was it spacious and beautiful, but the beds were really comfortable. We were able to totally relax and feel completely at home. We will return in March 2010 for our 3rd. visit! This is a great family home!

DonnaRay: That definitely was not advertising - Bardo1 is a long, long time fodorite who has been around for years and doesn't own either place he linked. You registered today to bring up this out of date thread so perhaps are you advertising the Tete? Maybe, maybe not. I don't know. Just seems weird to jump in and accuse someone of cheating in your very first post . . .
