New Mexico Itinerary
My husband and I are going to New Mexico (we're from CT) with another couple in mid-April 2018. I just learned that Taos Pueblo will be closed for the month of April and we are very disappointed!
My question is whether or not we should still make the trip to Taos from our Santa Fe base b/c I've read mixed reviews. We enjoy art, architecture, and good food.
We're considering a day-trip to Acoma Pueblo from Santa Fe instead. So, skip Taos altogether and go to Acoma instead? I appreciate your thoughts.

I'm guessing you will be flying in/out of Albuquerque, so if you want to go to Acoma pueblo plan for when are in that area, beginning or end of the trip. Acoma and Taos are similar in many ways.
Do go to Bandelier National Monument for some interesting ancient Native American dwellings.

How much time are you spending in Santa Fe (and where else?) I wouldn't skip Taos altogether. It has a different feel than Santa Fe. A nice day trip is to take the 'High Road' to Taos from Santa Fe (brochures abound with the route). Stop a a couple of the weaving shops and the Sanctuario de Chimayo. A little bit north of Taos is the Millicent Rogers Museum which is interesting. Maybe wander around town a little before returning to Santa Fe.
