Need your recommendations for Vermont/Montreal
I will be on my honeymoon for one week in Vermont and then for a few days in Montreal in mid-late September. I haven't found accommodations yet for Stowe (or nearby town) so if you can recommend anything (looking for $120 a night max), it'd be greatly appreciated. Also, if you know of any sites to see, restaurants, etc. for Stowe, Killington or Burlington, please let me know.
Also going to Montreal and I have accommodations there already but could also use some recommendations for sites, restaurants, etc.
I have checked Fodor's and found a wealth of information so I'm just looking for additional experiences at this point.
Thanks!

If you are planning to stay in Stowe toward the end of September, book forthwith. The most popular time for visiting. Best bargain in Stowe is the Stowe Motel & Snowdrift (very nice). For less than $120, you can book a room with a fireplace and kitchenette. On the way, stop in Waterbury at the Cabot Creamery Outlet (lots of free samples) and stock up on goodies to put in the fridge. This facility is right on the gorgeous Stowe recreation path (and as I recall they provide bicycles to borrow, or rent for a modest fee). Number is 800-829-7629. Best breakfast in town is at the Gables Inn (which is also a fabulous inn with fireplaced rooms - SO romantic, but perhaps a little beyond your budget). If there's a wait for breakfast (and there almost always is, but the line moves quickly) coffee is served in the living room and it's fun to talk to everyone. For a fabulous dining experience, the Cliff House (802-253-3000, reservations required) serves extraordinary food in a restaurant perched on the top of Mount Mansfield. Be sure to go at sunset. There is no charge for the gondola if you have dinner reservations, and this is one awesome ride up and down the mountain. The ride down after dinner is magical. Another of our favorites is Isle de France, not in the formal dining room, but in the cafe by the bar. Incredible food, reasonably priced, romantic ambience. They don't take reservations for that room, so try to get there when they open. But, there are so many fabulous places to dine in Stowe. Be sure to stop at the information center on Main Street and pick up the dining guide. Includes most of the restaurants, their menus and prices, so you can pick what really appeals to you. Be SURE to make reservations for dinner. For lunch or afternoon snacks, the Austrian Tea Room down the road from the Trapp (of Sound of Music fame) Family lodge has a deck on the back with a spectacular view of the fall foliage and the mountains. You may want to call 1-800-24STOWE and request that they send you a tourist package. Included is a very comprehensive lodging guide. Frankly, I would skip Killington and spend some time or even a night or two in Burlington (located right on Lake Champlain). The boat tour is wonderful. And, the outdoor cafes and shops at the Church Street Marketplace are fabulous. There's a new outpost of the New England Culinary Institute there which is fantastic for any meal. As for Montreal - again, the dining possibilities are awesome. You can request tourist literature at their website: http://www.tourism-montreal.org/. Included is a charming booklet which includes dozens of restaurants of every type and price range. I highly recommend Le Lutecia at the Hotel de la Montagne. The dining room is gorgeous - very Belle Epoque. You'd swear you were in one of the temples of haute cuisine in Paris (and I've been to Paris). But, the prices are moderate and it's not the least bit stuffy. There's a wonderful cocktail lounge downstairs with a live combo on the weekends and a nightclub called Thursdays in the rear of the hotel on the Crescent Street side. All up and down Crescent Street are a variety of bars and nightclubs. A visit to the revolving bar and restaurant in one of the hotels has awesome views. In Montreal, the concierge at your hotel will be able to direct you to activities and arrange them for you if you like. A boat cruise is wonderful here also, especially as the sun goes down. You can also arrange for a horse and carriage ride (they'll pick you up at your hotel) to the top of Mont Royal at sunset. I would highly recommend that you go to Montreal first, then south to Burlington, then Stowe, since the fall colors start in the north and move south.

Spend a day in the Burlington area, visiting the Shelburne Museum (could be all day if you like), the Norman Rockwell Museum, Lake Champlian overlook, Univ of Vermont. And DO visit the Ben & Jerry factory!
In Montreal, just window shop and stroll in the downtown area. Catch the bagpiper in Olgivies, the main department store. Visit the cathedrals.
Enjoy! You've made a good choice for a honeymoon!

I got married at the Inn at Turner Mill in Stowe. It was very affordable and a little outside of town next to a charming creek. The owners were very nice and accomodating. I can't remember the name of the Mexican restaurant we ate at, it was next to a sporting goods store, but the food and mango margaritas were excellent.
You really can't miss in Montreal. The Cathedral of Notre Dame is a must though. And while you're in town have a steak, it's really good here. If the Cirque do Soleil is going on don't miss it. There's really no way to describe it, but you will never forget it.
Cheers,
Chris
