Need safe clean budget accommodation Washington DC
We are meeting our UK relatives in Boston visiting with relatives and revisiting favorite places in Maine NH and MA. Driving to New York then on to DC and flying to our home here in the USA. Can anyone suggest a good clean safe Hotel near a Metro station in or around DC for $150.00 per night or less. We do not need ammeneties. We'll be too exhausted to go to the Gym or dance the night away. We would prefer to not have to pay an exhorbitant fee to park our rental van. Thanks for your help

Here are a few under $150. Each in central DC and within a few blocks of a Metro station:
http://www.tabardinn.com/ - 2 blocks to Dupont station (my top choice)
http://www.hotel-harrington.com/ - 1 block to Metro Center station
http://www.redroof.com/reservations/...ls.asp?num=254
- 2 blocks to Gallery Place station
Good luck - these fill up fast as most central DC hotels are in the $300 range for a basic double room.

We got an incredible deal through www.luxurylink.com for the Melrose Hotel in Georgetown. LOVED it and it cost less than 150 a night with breakfast.

Travelerpeg,
What of your dates of Travel?
I just stayed at the Omni Shoreham in February for $150 a night and I would highly recommend it. I have also stayed at one of the Kimpton Hotels in Dupont circle and believe it was around that as well, but that was in September about 2 years ago.

Omni Shoreham is very nice and often turns up on Priceline, along with the nearby Marriott Wardman Park. Both are handy to the Metro station and in a nice area with lots of restaurants and also near the Zoo. The area is far enough out of the city center, you can often find on-street parking in lieu of the hotel's garage.

We stayed at the Omni Shoreham at a ridiculously low rate with Hotwire last year and were thrilled. Location is excellent - within steps of metro station and right around the corner from two blocks of every sort of dining on both sides of Connecticut Avenue at moderate prices.
If you're not experienced with Priceline or Hotwire, see www.betterbidding.com and www.biddingfortravel.com - ask for assistance. You really can stay at 4* hotels for 2* prices.
I used Hotwire because I was able to narrow down the possibilities and was almost certain I would be booking the Omni Shoreham - so that turned out perfectly!

I just got back from a trip to DC and stayed at the Omni Shoreham. It's a great location for catching the metro. Cute little restaurants nearby - Irish, sushi, indian, asian fusian, italian, coffeeshops. The rooms are nice, bathrooms are small, but not a problem with us. I'd stay there again.
