Need Recommendation for 4 Day Weekend in November- East Coast

We're looking for recommendations for a getaway for an upcoming 4 day weekend (November 6-9). We are a couple in our early 30s, love hiking and camping, and would like to keep it as low budget as possible. We live in central NJ and would prefer to drive but wouldn't be against flying somewhere if we found a reasonable airfare.

TTT. Can't really help with specific recommendations, but you might want to check out state parks in PA, MD, VA or WVA--all within driving distance. Maybe someone else can help.

Why don't you try the Finger Lakes in NYS. About a 5 hour drive from NJ, camping, hiking, wineries and affordable. Check out Ithaca, Watkins Glen and Penn Yan for a good base for your visit.

How about Shenandoah National Park? We camp there several times a year (and may go again early Nov if we can get away). In Nov, it will be brisk during the day and cold at night, but we like camping when you NEED a fire!

Not a hiker or a camper .. but what about the Berkshires ... It is beautiful country .. and I know there is lots of hiking and camping throughout the area ... along with some wonderful museums ..

Thank you for all your suggestions! We actually were able to find cheap flights to Portland, Oregon! Always wanted to check it out, so we're headed up there (though not sure how the weather will be...)

I also wanted to add that we are huge fans of Shenandoah NP. We both went to college nearby (at James Madison University) and have spent lots of time exploring there. We actually went camping and hiking there last year around the same time. It was COLD at night (around 30 degrees) and it snowed a little during our hike but it was still beautiful and fun.

Well it sounds like you alreaady know this... but Portland, Oregon will likely be cool to cold - especially for hiking or camping out in early November. Could be clear or rainy weather, either one.

You could check into cabins/cottages as I think it will be too cold and wet to camp as Suze mentions.

As mentioned, the weather here in Portland will most likely be cold and rainy. Where do you plan on going? The gorge, the coast, just downtown...do you have any ideas yet?

The weather may still be cooperating that far south. It maybe a little far to drive but you could check for flights into Asheville or Knoxville.
