If you can go to only one NYC comedy club, which one to go?

Gotham City Comedy Club was a great time. Didn't have reservations on a Thursday night in June, but got in anyway. Every seat is a good seat - although they crowd you in!

There were 5 or 6 comedians and the emcee - all but one was EXTREMELY funny. And, I see one of the comics on some game show on Oxygen.

After getting back to Wisconsin, I happened to rent The Comedian with Jerry Seinfeld - it totally features this comedy club! Too bad he wasn't in the neighborhood when I was there!

My vote goes to the Comedy Cellar on Macdougal. I was there last week with friends from out of town, paid $10 cover, the drinks were cheap and good ($5-6 mixed drinks, can't do better in nyc)...and best of all...half way through the show, Chris Rock came out unannounced! He was clearly practicing for his gig hosting the VMAs this week, as all of his bits were music related, but it was a treat!
I also have a friend who is an aspiring comic, so I have been to many comedy clubs in the city. Carolines and Gotham are both solid picks, but will cost you more money.

Carolines on Broadway between 50 & 49th. You get a wide array of comedians from SNL's Tracey Morgan to the sassy talker Ms. Behar! Make sure to stop at the ATM first, cause things can get a little expensive in there. Enjoy.
