Need hotel advice

first time to las vegas. I am going alone but meeting up with friends who are going to be staying at theHOTEL at Mandalay Bay. Since this is $149 per night (a bit above my budget) I am wondering recommendations of where is a good place to stay. I wanna be close to them so that meeting up is easy. Is it worth is to stay in the Mandalay Bay ($89) or is it far from the HOTEL at mandalay bay? or should I save $30 per night and stay next door at the Luxor.
thanks^^

If you can get the Mandalay Bay for $89 a night, take it. We thought the Luxor in the pyramid was a little bit creepy.

Mandalay Bay even at $149 is a bargain.

I would stay at Mandalay Bay.It has a connecting corridor to TheHotel, and only takes a couple of minutes to get between the 2 hotels.

Mandalay Bay is so far down the Strip that nothing else is really close to it. The only thing close is the Luxor, so if it's worth it for you to save $30, that is really the only choice.

There's a tram that runs between the Mandalay, the Luxor and the Excaliber, too.

Hi, I'm about to visit Vegas for the first time since 1990. I'm looking at the Luxor Hotel and the Orleans. I've found good prices for both.

I'm looking for someone who is familiar with both to make a recommendation.

Thanks.

We stayed at the Luxor and from our room could see the Orleans way off in the distance. Much too far from the Strip in my opinion.
The Luxor is well down the souther part of the strip but certainly not out of range of most places. The MGM Grand, Excalibur, Tropicana,New York , Mandalay are right in the same vicinity.

Mona...the luxor is a long long walk to the center of the strip and to a lot of things that you probably want to see. Orleans has larger rooms and a free shuttle to the CENTER of the strip, so although Luxor is closer, if you're not great walkers you might want to stay at Orleans.

I had a great experience at the Orleans. Great complex, nice large rooms, and the shuttle was easy. We took are car also, and it was an easy drive to the South strip properties. Also, another property in Coast Casinos, is Gold Coast. Same shuttle to Center strip and next to Rio. Also Palms (great buffet) is across the street. You get more bang for the buck off strip.

Been going to Luxor and Mandalay for years. Luxor is a cool hotel. Although not as nice as Mandalay. I would try Mandalay and then Luxor. The pyramid rooms are cool - but need a little updating (we love the spa suites in the pyramid). The tower rooms are newer and have nicer furnishings. All properties are not close to the center strip. But there is a bus that will take you all the way down the strip if you want.
