Need Hilton Head/Sea Pines lodging advice
We are heading to Sea Pines with our 2 year old this May and I'm having a hard time deciding where to stay. We've settled on Harbour Town for all the activities, but we can't stay at the Inn since we're looking for a two-bedroom. Their website is nice, but doesn't have a map of the property, so determining proximity to the toddler-friendly activities has been tough. Can anyone recommend the right section if we want to be 1) right at a trolley stop, 2) have access to a pool, and 3) be as close as possible to the playground, restaurants, and shops? I've seen mention of the Racquet Club, Cutter , Ketch, Heritage, and some others. Many, many thanks.

You might consider South Beach rather than Harbor Town. Three Sea Pines properties have two bedroom condos with pools at the building. You are across the street from the South Beach Marina with restaurants, playground and shopping. You are 3.5 miles to Harbour Town for activities there. Sea Pines Realty can give you better specifics but Beach and Tennis is one; South Beach Club is two; and the third I can't remember. All of Sea Pines is connected by bike paths. You can get a kid seat on a bike and never get back in the car.

I agree with the above. Whenever we venture into Harbortown or one of the other off-the-beach, commercial marina areas, I always feel sorry for the folks who stay right there. Too far from the beach and just too busy (especially at night). And these areas are easily reachable from the beach areas.

I agree that South Beach is easier with a toddler, plus May is a little early for the Harbor Town activities. In addition to the condos mentioned, there is also the Bluff Villas. They are across the street from the Sound but equally convenient. If not too late, you can also check South Beach rentals at sbinn.com. SaltyDog.com will also have a South Beach event calendar.

stumpworks73 - does that mean that if I rent a condo that is described as "walk to beach" it is still in a beach-front building but maybe without the beach views? "on the beach" and "walk to beach" are about $1K apart for a week!!

You are correct. On the beach have the view. Walk to the beach are close but no ocean view. There's another Hilton Head thread running where somebody mentioned the Bluff Villas near South Beach. Many of the Bluff Villas have fantastic views of the sound, but it's across the street to the beach.
You should be able to get real specific information about the unit you are renting view and the exact distance to the beach.
