Need help w/ romantic getaway for the X-mas holidays!
Hello everyone,
My husband and I'd like to get away for a couple of days over the Christmas holidays just to relax, enjoy each other's company and perhaps see some snow - we're looking for a romantic setting and a relaxed atmosphere. Somewhere close to mountains lakes etc. No beach resorts. We can travel anytime between Dec. 24 and Jan. 30th. We live in Orange county, California, and we'd prefer driving somewhere as opposed to flying. No more than a 5 or 6-hour drive though. Would Lake Tahoe be too expensive this time of the year? What about Yosemite? Any other suggestions are much appreciated! We need to make a decision soon.
Thanks a lot for your help!
Ana

Don't mean to be a wet blanket but all the nice/romantic places will have been booked up long ago, I'd imagine.
Tahoe is great this time of year but nice lodgings are few and heavily booked.
The only nice place in Yosemite is the Ahwahnee Inn and it books up a year in advance for summer.
My vote would be Sedona. Among the best couples atmosphere around. Try www.enchantment.com for starters.

Hi Ana,
I wouldn't be discouraged with the timing...I am in the same boat. Remember, it is all about imagination too! Why don't you try a 5* hotel on priceline and drive wherever you can get away to within driving distance. Tahoe is awesome, went there for my honeymoon in the summer time.
I would try priceline and see what is available...worst case scenario is you stay a little outside the city and take the scenic route to town!
