Thanks, we will give Billy's a try. Any recommendation or do they have a house specialty?

How far is the corvette museum from the Shaker Village where we'll be staying? My husband isn't sure if it is worth driving out there.

Mapquest says it is 146.51 miles or 2.5 hours from Shakertown (Harrodsburg, Kentucky) to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green.

Shaker Village is only 30 miles from Lexington on US 68. Between the two are the Warwick Foundation on the KY river palisades (www.warwickfoundation.org)that you can tour. Also The Glitz is a fun place for lunch between Shakertown and Lexington. It's in Nonesuch, Ky and is an antique mall (Irish Acres) that was an old country school that has been converted. Reservations are required for lunch which cost $17.95.

Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg would be another good place to eat. www.beaumontinn.com

Both The Glitz and Beaumont Inn are within 10 miles of Shakertown.

My aunt was involved with the restoration of Shakertown and wrote one of their guidebooks. I think it is still sold in one of the gift shops.

In the Lexington area there are many other horse farms you can tour and the KY Horse Park. Smarty Jones is at stud at Three Chimneys Farm (stud fee $100,000).http://www.threechimneys.com/stallions/

For other ideas in Lexington -

Fifteen miles from Lexington is Midway, KY - http://www.midwayky.net/. This is a tiny town with antiques shops, restaurants, wine stores. To reach Midway, you drive through some of the prettiest horse farms on country lanes. Lanes End Farm is in Midway and is where Queen Elizabeth boards her horses and stays when she or any of the royals visit. http://www.lanesend.com/

Also within a couple of miles of Midway is Equus Run Vineyards. They have a tasting room and events such as concerts, picnics, etc. http://www.equusrunvineyards.com/

If you decide to go to the corvette museum from Shakertown be aware they are in different time zones.

Thanks for the info. Is the Corvette museum worth the 2.5 hour trip? Has anyone made a visit there?
