Take a day trip down to Lexington, KY (1 hour away) and go to the Kentucky Horse Park. It will be PERFECT for a 14 year old! There are lots of horses there to see and pet, and also an opportunity to ride, too.

1. Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum -- www.churchilldowns.com

2. Great restaurants along Bardstown Road -- see the Friday or Saturday Courier-Journal for lists

3. Frazier Historical Arms Museum -- www.fraziermuseum.org

4. Speed Art Museum

5. Falls of the Ohio

6. Louisville Slugger Museum

In Lexington, the Kentucky Horse Park of course.

In Shelbyville (30 minutes east of L'ville), Wakefield-Scearce Galleries and Science Hill for lunch (try the Hot Brown and/or trout) -- www.wakefieldscearce.com
