Imperial War Museum Duxford or Royal Air Force Museum Hendon at Colindale?
Which wonderful place of aviation history do you recommend?
I read really good reviews about both places and I welcome comments about them.

Been to both several times. They are both terrific museums for anyone with at least a passing interest in aviation history. The RAF museum is free entry whereas Duxford has quite pricey tickets. Duxford probably has the edge in terms of the largest collection of aircraft (and has the American Air Museum - which is effectively a large museum within a museum), but even so the RAF museum will take most people several hours to get round.

I've only been to Duxford. It is a comprehensive museum and very interesting, good for a few hours especially if the weather is a bit rubbish. However I agree with Gordon_R that it is expensive. Cafe prices were also extortionate, so I felt fleeced twice over. I since found out that you get 2-4-1 tickets with English Heritage, which doesn't help you much, but would have left me with a better impression if I'd realised that before I went.

I would put in this order. Duxford, RAF Hendon, Imperial War Museum. You should also consider Cosford and Bovington Tank Museum. Cosford is great because its part of the museum network that has many one-of-a-kind airplanes. While Bovington is a Tank Museum, it is the finest and largest tank museum. I am a WWII history buff I found Duxford to be the best; where else can you see planes that were in the Battle of Britain?
