Need help from you foodies from Monterey/Carmel Area

I am originally from the Monterey Peninsula, but have not lived there for quite some time. I am familiar with some restaurants in the area, but want to find a special, romantic dinner spot for my 50th (gulp) birthday. We are thinking about somewhere in Carmel, but would be open to Monterey or PG. Instead of seafood or italian -- steak, lamb chops, etc. are what we had in mind. I thought of Anton & Michel, but any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Casanova is the first to come to mind. Great atmosphere/ambiance, excellent food. Tell them its a special day (50th birthday should qualify) and ask for a table in the old (original) part, not the new room.

Also Casanova. Been going there for nearly 30 years--romantic, fine food and ambiance--a Carmel classic.
