Need help for hotels in Las Vegas
HI,
I'm travelling with a group of friends and we are 6 friends (3 couples). We need to stay at Vegas for MAy 20th & 21st night, but all hotels seem booked and do not have any economical fares!I have to ask you a few things, PLEASE HELP:
# Is it possible to get a good fare hotel below $100 on the strip itself for 2 people per room? And how??
# If we dont get any cheap stay per room, then We are 6 ppl and we can stay in one suite, but need it to be on the strip, any suggestions?
PLease suggest soon as I see all hotel charges in $300 and I need to book soon to get a better price and hotel. HELP!!

1. No. Not on a Friday and Saturday night. Well, you MIGHT try Priceline.
2. Six people in a standard-sized suite is a recipe for everyone hating everyone else by the end of the trip.
My recommendation at this time would be to stay on a good off-Strip property. The Orleans, to be specific. IF you can get a room.

You might check the Motel 6 on Tropicana at Koval Ln. They are currently showing rooms under $100. I'm sure it's not that nice, and the location is only so-so (a block or so off the strip, and pretty far south on the strip) but if budget is that big of a concern, it might do.
The Embassy Suites could be another option. I doubt you could get 6 in a room there, but two rooms for ~$150 might work. It's also a little bit off the strip, but you could walk to the strip.
Finally, are those dates the only ones that will work? Certainly you could get better rates on other days. I doubt you'll ever get under $100 for Friday and Saturday at a nice hotel, but those particular dates seem higher than normal.

My suggestion then is to read the many threads here on vegas hotels to get an idea of which ones interest you, then check their individual web sites. If you find several that interest you, post back with the hotels, their prices, and what is most important to you in a hotel, and you will get plenty of help.

$50 per night May 18 and 19.
Not on the strip but very close, with free bus to the strip. Next door to the RIO and PALMS hotels.

the super 8 on koval lane has always been clean and decent for us. it's a short walk to the strip - just behind bally's. their website is saying $64 for may 18. basic motel, small hot tub in the parking lot, no pool (which in may, i'd want)

Circus Circus is Dreadful Dreadful. Bad location, shrieking brats everywhere, crummy place in general.
You can do MUCH better. If you're going to do Vegas on the cheap, try Harrah's or Bally's or the Flamingo. Mid-week, rates should be good just about everywhere-- unless there's a citywide convention taking place.

For whatever reason that seems to be a busy weekend in Vegas. Still, you can do Boardwalk for under $100 and I would choose that over Circus Circus (having stayed at neither). Have you checked the off-strip properties as rjw_lgb_ca suggested above. They have free shuttles to the strip and may be cheaper.

Since this May Las Vegas completes 100 yrs, thats why mid-week also seemed to be costly!
So here are my choices:
For Strip: Stratosphere or Circus Circus
Off strip: Orleans and Gold Coast.
Suggestions please. Thanks a lot,
Preeya

I don't know enough to advise between Orleans and Gold Coast, but do know enough to say absolutely stay at one of those. Stratosphere is not very nice, and is very far north of anything else you'd be interested in. Circus Circus has already been discussed.
And I'm not so sure it's the 100th anniversary celebration causing trouble. There are lots of hotel deals to be had just before or after your trip, but not those particular dates. Even Venetian is offering $100 midweek rates for some summer weeks as a centennial promotion.

Since you only have two nights I would pick Gold Coast, it is closer to the strip and there are two great hotels next door to it.
Orleans has nicer rooms and better restaurants, but sits all by itself and is a longer shuttle ride from the strip.
CIRCUS CIRCUS and Stratosphere are actually further from center strip than the Gold Coast is.

I completely agree with the suggestions for Gold Coast or Orleans. Basically you have two very different hotels so you will want to research the things that matter most to you.
Orleans beats the Gold Coast as an overall nicer hotel. The Orleans is newer and caters to a younger demographic than the Gold Coast, which has a lot of retired people. Two new towers at the Orleans have opened in recent years. The restaurants are similar at both hotels. The spa is newer at the Orleans and the pool is nicer. They both have a bowling alley.
All that said: The Gold Coast gives you a much better location. So if you are into the Vegas nightlife and are only using your hotel for a bed then I would go with the Gold Coast. You can easily walk to the Strip. It is only a couple of blocks off the biggest corner in Vegas (Flamingo and LVB). As mentioned above it is beside the Rio and across the street from the Plams. Both of those are outstanding places for dining, nightlife and gambling. The Orleans is a few miles off The Strip. Both hotels offer a free shuttle. From the Gold Coast the shuttle takes a couple of minutes to get to the Strip. From the Orleans it takes about 10 minutes. The cab ride from the Orleans is about $10 to the Strip.

Hi preeya, i just returned from Vegas and stayed @ monte carlo. In my opinion, this hotel was really, really nice. The rooms had nice furnishings, very clean, marble floors in the bathrooms. I only paid $119.00 a nite online. Try checking that out.. I would definitely recommend NOT staying @ Circus Circus.
