Need Flat Rock, Michigan Advice
Message: Hi there,
I need to travel to Flat Rock for work in January, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I should stay in a hotel? Is Detroit close? I assume it would offer more accomodations than Flat Rock. Thanks so much in advance!

When in January is very important. The North American International Auto show is in Detroit--I believe preview time begins around the 9th or 10th. Check a web site to be sure. IF you are coming to Detroit at the same time, get moving now. Hotel rooms will fill throughout the Detroit metro area.
If your travel time does not conflict with this, there is little to choose in Flat Rock. Look a bit to the north toward Dearborn. You could go south to Monroe (too far in my opinion and not much there) or Southgate, but on the whole I prefer Dearborn. The Dearborn Inn is a Marriott and the Hyatt Fairlane is also very nice if your budget permits. Staying in Dearborn area will give you more local choices for food and entertainment. Good luck!

Dearborn is a nice area, so that's probably a good choice.
Just a note though - There is also a Flat Rock in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I'd guess if you're coming on business, it's to the Flat Rock outside of Detroit, but can't be 100% sure. So, I just wanted to warn you and make sure you know which you're headed to!

Thanks so much everyone. We ended up going with the Hyatt Regency Dearborn - I believe this is the same Hyatt as you suggested, RandyK? Also, jlm_mi, thanks so much for the tip! I had no idea there was another but luckily I just confirmed that I am going to the one outside of Detroit.
