Need Advice on getting to Newark Airport
I will be leaving from PHL Suburbs in the early a.m. hours. Which is the best way to get to Newark Airport? I would think N.J. Turnpike. Not sure where to access it from Trenton n.j. Would going straight up Rt.1 to the Garden State Xpress be take me there as well? Easiest way please. Thanks.

This is not the shortest but it is the quickest.
Take 95 North from Philadelphia area into NJ. This will eventually turn into 295 south as you circle around Trenton.
In the Trenton Area get on 195 East.
Get on the NJ Turnpike and go North.

This route is the best, and I've tried almost all of them (including Screen Name's).
Head north on I-95.
Cross into New Jersey on the Betsy Ross Bridge.
Stay on Hiway 90 until it merges with Hiway 73, then continue south on Hiway 73 for about five miles.
Head north on I-295 at Exit 36.
At Exit 60, go east on I-195, towards the Shore.
In about eight miles you'll get to the New Jersey Turnpike, on which you head north.
Newark International is at Exit 13 of the NJT.

It looks like getting on 1-195 is the best way to go. I just hope there are CLEAR signs on 1-195 telling me where the turnpike is at. Map quest says about the same thing. I know I go to Spring Lake on 1-195 but I have never noticed turnpike signs. (Never looked for them either.) PaulRabe, I am in Newtown/yardley area. Thanks for your help. Diann

What part of the PHL suburbs do you live? If you are near the PA Turnpike, I would take that heading East. It will dump you right into the NJ Turnpike, then up to Exit 13A.
If Trenton/195 is more convenient, at mile marker 6 (6 miles or so East of Trenton) is where you hop on the NJ Turnpike.

diann, if you are in the Yardley area you don't want to go south on 95 to get to the Betsy Ross Bridge. It does look like 195 E to the NJ Turnpike is your best bet. It must be marked. Hopefully someone else will know for sure.

All,
I found it just fine. Many signs along the way. Went to 195 marker 6 and hopped on the turnpike. Made it in about 1 hour. Even with drizzles!! I was picking someone up. Coming back I did the old familiar Garden State Parkway south to Rt.1. Much longer but somehow I missed the turpike on the return trip. (??) Thanks everyone.
