Need advice for San Diego

WHO KNOWS THE HYATT ISLANDIA IN SAN DIEGO? Some reports in Tripadvisor are so terrible, and I did a reservation there for one week!

It's a beautiful hotel in a great location. Don't worry. Make sure you at least have a drink in the rooftop bar. You'll have a spectacular view of Coronado Island and the bay. The hotel's location is superb--right on the bay and within walking distance to downtown and Seaport Village. In addition, a trolley stop is nearby.

Barbara is right. That is the Manchester Grand Hyatt in the downtown area. Beautiful hotel. Hyatt Islandia is alright. I don't care for the location. It is a mile or two from Mission Beach, where are roller coaster is. The hotel needs an update in my opinion. The best location for a hotel would be in the Gaslamp area. Such as the Hilton Gaslamp, Marriott Marina, or Manchester Hyatt. Transportation is better, great restaurants, bars, etc.

Last Christmas we stayed at Humphrey's Half Moon Inn and Suites on Shelter Island. It was lovely and wonderfully located for touring the San Diego area. When will you be there? You should be able to get a great rate if it is off-season (which is probably now through April). You can borrow bikes for a ride around Shelter Island (it's a Marina-type island -- lovely boats) and the restaurant had wonderful breakfasts. There is a venue on the grounds for concerts on weekends, but you can tell from their website is there is anything going on the week you are there. www.halfmooninn.com
