Thanks for the suggestions. Prefer not to drive. Rather fly and not spend more than $1000 for everything. Where is warm on October? Forida in October? Isn't this hurricane season?

I spent less than a $1000 in New Orleans. I pricelined my flight and my 4* hotel --great room with a view of the Mississippi River for only $65 a night. We rented a car drove out to tour plantations, strolled around the French Quarter, Garden District, and stuffed ourselves with beignets and cafe au laits while people watching. Another fun day was spent over at Mardi Gras world looking at all the floats at rest. Food can be expensive, but we found after a big breakfasts at Mother's we were full the whole day.

I didn't think of New Orleans. San Fran sounds nice too. Decisions, Decisions...
I love Florida. Wouldn't mind seeing the ocean again.

You could get a lot of bang for your money in Toronto. $1k would still be like maybe 1250 or so in Canadian and there are many things to do and see. You could even take the train from Windsor. LMF

Not super interested in going to Canada. Thanks for the input though. Seems like we've been there enough. Wouldn't mind going someplace warm with a beach maybe?

Flying into PHL or BWI gets you near the Mid-Atlantic beaches. From Jersey, down through Cape May, across the ferry to Lewes (our favorite--both bayside and the Atlantic,) and Rehoboth.

October can be the best time of year for that area, as well. Generally great weather and fewer people.

Janny: What about a cruise? There are many out of Florida. My husband and I have taken a few 3 and 4-night cruises out of Tampa, Miami and Port Canaveral for $299 or $399 per person including taxes and port charges. The only extra would be your bar bill, and your airfare of course. It is a very inexpensive way to travel and you get to visit an island or two October is the end of hurricane season so I'm sure you could get an even better fare than we get since we always cruise in January/February. Try Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norweigan and Princess for prices. Celebrity and others will be higher priced. We use Buycruise.com for the best price.
