National Parks near Vegas
I may attending a conference in Las Vegas in late June. Would love to take a few extra days to do something else. Does anyone have a preference for either Zion or Bryce? I wish I could work in the Grand Canyon, but I don't have the time.

Zion and Bryce are farther from Las Vegas, so I'm not sure why you'd have time for one of them but not the Grand Canyon. Am I confused?
All are beautiful, just in different ways. Zion is more spread out with fabulous scenery and good hiking trails. Bryce is a show-stopping "wow" of a sight - and worth hiking at least partway down among the hoodoos. The Grand Canyon, well, you know - it looks just like it looks (only bigger)!

You can't go wrong really. They're all fabulous. What are your interests?

Zion and Bryce are very doable. Even if you only spend 1 day at each, you will be glad you went and you can decide how you want to spend your time there on the next visit. South Rim Grand Canyon is 5 hours from Las Vegas. I can't recall how long the drive to North Rim is. I'd stick with Zion and Bryce, or I'd spend all my time in Zion because there is so much to see.

When we did it, we spent 2-3 days at Zion, and one at Bryce. However, that was in Decewmber, and we could drive around Zion at our own pace. You'll need to use the shuttle for Zion, as you're in prime time.
Also, as you're coming back on I-15, check out Valley of Fire, about 55 miles NE of Las Vegas. Well-woirth the stop!

First, a reminder Las Vegas is on Pacific Time, Utah is on Mountain time so 2 hours of drive time equals 3 hours clock time!
Second, our experience suggests you allot for 2.5 to 3 hours drive time from Vegas to Zion "door to door." I believe it is 120 miles from LV to the I-15 exit to Zion. The I-15 gets a bit curvy and the winds can kick up between Mesquite, NV and St. George,UT which slowed us down. Plus you pass thru a couple of small towns on highway 9, the road leading to Zion, where 35 mph is the speed limit. If I recall when we did it, from the Sratosphere hotel to Hurricane Utah, the "last" town before Zion where we stopped for breakfast, it was 3 hours and 15 minutes CLOCK time. Then Zion was about a half-hour from there.
No matter, you can still do it in a day. Have fun!!
