Nashville "To-do" list
I will be visiting Nashville this coming weekend with seven other women. We are all 30ish, married and have families. Where do we go in town to have a nice dinner (we sometimes can get a little loud) and to have a post-dinner drink - maybe with some music? None of us are "on the prowl" so, please, save the meat markets. We will be staying downtown. Thanks all.

Holly,
If you do not want to leave the downtown area there are several dinner options: Arthurs (very expensive) to Spaghetti Factory. The Big River Grill is casual and offers good food (medium priced). It is located at Second and Broadway, and is in the middle of all the tourist attractions (i.e. Wildhorse Saloon, Printers Alley, etc.) If you are willing to drive, Sunset Grill, Midtown Cafe, and many others offer very good food. Bluebird Cafe is great for music. Let me know what your interests are and I will try to be more helpful. Also, be aware the Titans will be playing downtown this Sunday and will cause a lot of traffic!

If you want to know what's going on in Nashville, look at www.citysearch.com and choose Nashville. The new Frist Museum opened just last year and is outstanding. . Visit the Parthenon, in Centennial Park off of West End Avenue(Vanderbuilt area) The Parthenon has just completed a years-long renovation. It's a full-sized replica of the real Parthenon.
Here are some good restaurants: Park Cafe, Zola, Midtown Cafe. If you like good chain restaurants, Flemings and P.F. Chang. If you like authentic Nashville "meat & three" dives, Rotier's near West End Avenue, near Vanderbilt.
Also the Stockyard& Big River Grill.
Of course 2nd Ave is music row .
Great place for snack, coffee, baked goods & desserts ect. is Provance, one block down from the Sheraton.
check one of the weather web sites--lots of rain yesterday...

Thank you both for your wonderful advice and so quick, too! We are coming from Lexington, Ky, a short four hour drive, and will gladly brave bad weather(the same we'd have at home) for a weekend out with the girls. Thank you again for the wonderful advice.

Holly, I highly recommend a stop at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge on Broadway. It's a famous club (especially among country western artists and fans) where you will see up and coming singers and bands. Hopefully a rising star named Alison Carmona will be performing there this weekend. I saw her there several weeks ago and I thought she was great. Anyway, you will have a great time there.

Holly,
I was there this past weekend and visited the Parthenon museum. The park it is situated in is beautiful, especially since the leaves are changing. Right now they have a Andy Warhol exhibition going on, which was interesting.
Food wise...try the Spaghetti Factory (I'm not sure if thats the correct name) but it's on 3rd Avenue & it's yummy. We loved the food and atmosphere. Be warned that on the weekend the restaurants get packed for dinner, so get there early. We had to wait 1 hour, and that was the wait everywhere!
