Naples, FL hotel suggestions

My husband and I are thinking of going to Naples, FL for a long Thanksgiving weekend. I was looking for a nice hotel on the beach. I had almost decided on Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club, but then had read some bad reviews.

Has anyone stayed there or does anyone have any other suggestions on a hotel/resort?

Ritz is on the beach - nice location. Don't know anything about the hotel.

Have you thought about calling or emailing the hotel and asking them to address the negative reviews?

It is a great location, and I used to see lots of happy people walking around there when I lived in Naples. Ditto the Ritz.

All resorts have things I hate -- nickel and diming when you are already paying plenty stands out -- but what I hate, other people might find okay.

If you want to stay about 20 minutes away the Hyatt at Ccocnut Point is great. They have a really great spa as well.

The Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club are closest to downtown Naples. I like La Playa which is in Vanderbilt Beach area-- walking distance from the Ritz on the beach. It is less formal than the Ritz. The other property is the Naples Grand Beach Resort. The latter three are 4 to 5 star hotels. The other property that may be more reasonable is the Edgewater Beach Hotel. It is in the same area as the Naples Beach Club. Sadly, I have not stayed at any of the above but have driven by them many times and have eaten at a couple.

Check out LaPlaya...Back in 2006 I posted a trip report which included brief reviews of some of the hotels in Naples.
