Naples Cay or Regatta (Vanderbilt beach)?

We (husband, 18 month old, and I) are hoping to rent a place near the beach for the last week in February. I am finding places in Naples Cay and the Regatta, which looks like it is just off Vanderbilt beach. Does anyone have any thoughts on the pros and cons of either locale? We will most likely have a rental car, but like the idea of not driving to the beach. We want to spend most of the time hanging out on the beach, but I am sure we will get a little stir crazy and want to get into the town a bit. Thanks for any input!

We rented at Naples Cay about 6 or 7 years ago, and close friends have also rented there.

While I can't comment on the condition of any particular condo, I would go back in a minute. Naples Cay is RIGHT on the beach, and I assume that every unit has a great Gulf view.

Once you find it (you have to make a weird turn off Pine Ridge Road to get there), it is an easy drive from an upscale shopping center and plenty of restaurants, there is a large hotel with all its facilities across a small channel, an easy walk with a stroller, and Venetian Village shops and restaurants are within walking distance.

I would say that the only downside is that the nearest Publix supermarket at Neapolitan is not as good as the one north of Pelican Bay near Vanderbilt Beach.

I have read very good things about Naples Cay. I am renting a beautiful condo in their Westshore building in two weeks.

Thank you so much for your responses. I will try to go with Naples Cay. Janiekins, did you rent through an agency? If so, what one did you use? I have been looking at a sites for resortquest and premiere properties. The resortquest site doesn't have a lot of information on it.

Just to add that we rented at the Regatta about 5 years ago-it was brand new and very lovely. It is about a 5 minute easy walk to the beach. Small pools and a quick drive to the grocery. The beach entrance is right next to the Ritz there. So much has been built up North of Naples now that you don't have to fight the terrible traffic to go "downtown" for dinner. Enjoy.

Resuscitating this thread - hope to hear from posters who rented at Naples Cay.
Which unit/building where you in? How did you enjoy it?
Thanks in advance for your input!

Andre,

We rented at the club, we were in 503 and 602. Both were nice. We used Premier properties and everything always went smoothly. It is a little bit of a walk to the beach over the boardwalk. The pool is fairly small and could get crowded. But, overall it was a fantastic place. It was so nice having our own space. There is also good grocery shopping near by and some good restaurants. We picked up sandwiches at D'Amico several times both weeks we were there.

eastave,
Thanks for the feedback!
Have booked 2 rooms at the Naples Grande for the time being, at approx. the same price as a nice 2BR condo... still debating the pros and cons of hotel vs. condo on this trip.

I rented at Naples Cay in the Westshore building - unit WS1102. DH and I loved it. The building was very quiet and the unit was very nice and updated.

The view was gorgeous from the deck. The beach was so nice, clean and also very quiet. I would highly recommend Naples Cay.
