Are we talking staying at Silverado or eating at Silverado? The accomodations are condo/townhouses that ring the golf course. They are all OK, but I prefer hotels to condos. My opinion is this place is showing its age. It is a grand "looking" place, but in need of some updating. I wouldn't eat there for any special occasion, maybe have a drink on the deck, then go somewhere else for dinner. Resort wise, I prefer Meadowwood in Napa.

I was here about 10 years ago...the rooms were pleasant (hope thev'e been updated since then!), and the weather was sunny and hot in mid-April. It was a nice place to just lay by the pool, play golf or tennis. Since I don't play golf or tennis, I found it a bit too quiet after a day or so. If your parents are in their 70's, though, they may find it wonderful, and there are lots of great restaraunts and wineries in the area.

My in-laws used to stay here for three months at a time before they gave up New York for Napa..the condos are ok..very,very basic and I agree probably showing their age..can't recommend the dining room but you will be in short distance to many worthwhile restaurants. Check out Calistoga for spa days while you are there..eat almost any place besides the dining room at Silverado and shop at Nob Hill grocery on Trancas in Napa for almost everything.
