Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard

I would like to know what Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard are like-- in terms of atmosphere, people, activities, prices, availibility of hotels in summer, beaches, etc.. Thanks.

Donna: Could you add anything on Cape Cod. I know that part of it has changed considerably recently. What is the rest of the Cape like? How does it compare to Nantucket & M.V.?

Nantucket is gorgeous, Due to its popularity (I hate when secrets get out) it is much more crowded than say 5 yrs ago. We saw trash bu the side of the road this summer (a first)
Check out the beaches they are great.
Restaraunts & lodging are high and shopping in most places is for thevery wealthy

Thanks a for your comments. What is it about Nantucket that makes it so appealing of a spot- compared to say, the Hamptons?

I've never been to Nantucket, but I've been going to MV every summer for the past 3 years. I prefer it over the hamptons, except in terms of distance from NYC. MV has amazing beaches, the people are nice and helpful, the atmostphere is very low key and there is lots to do if you like biking, swimming, kayaking, etc. Prices are high for lodging and food, so renting a house for a week is a great way to go.
