Na Pali Catamaran in the afternoon

I booked the trip in the afternoon in June. Was that a dumb Idea?

We actually did the afternoon trip and it was wonderful!!! I was so worried I would be sick since I have a sensitive stomach. We had no problems and it was so beautiful!!! I liked this better than the helicopter rides. NaPali Cat is awesome!!!

How many people ride this "Cat?" I'm considering that on my next trip to Hawaii. Did you see anyone having a motion-sickness problem?

Dumb? No, but I do believe that you see more wildlife on the mornings runs. It's not too hard getting up at 5am to make the boat. Do it early in your trip and it won't be hard. Or do the afternoon if you'd like.

elsiemoo-the larger cats like holoholo or bluedolphin take approx 40 with a crew of 4 or 5 (that's just a best guess). i went 3x this year and one person from 2 trips got sick. book early (2to3wks in advance)

Thank you, kauai_aka. I'm usually fine on a catamaran. So far anyway ... I'll have to give it a try.

I did not see anyone with motion sickness. The only problem you might have is if you don't snorkel; the boat bobs and that can make you a little sick. We saw lots of spinner dolphins, a shark, goats in the hills and turtles. I talked to the men who ran the cat and they said it vary's; you can't predict what you will see in the morning versus the afternoon. I almost cancelled for that reason and thank goodness I didn't because it was so awesome. I wish I could post pics here to show the rainbow we saw and all the waterfalls from the rain and of course the dolphins jumping. It really was amazing!!!

Elmo, I think the limit is 12 or 18 people if I remember correctly. We saw huge boats and we realized the intimacy of the cat was better and you can go into the caves. We saw Captin Sundowns boat and people were packed on their like sardins:0( Yay for Na Pali Catamaran!!!

elsiemoo - Definitely take some meclazine (Bonine, Dramamine II or you can get generic meclazine over the counter from the pharmacist) the night before and perhaps an hour before you get on the boat. Book the trip in the morning since afternoons are much rougher. I am easily motionsick but with the meclazine I did okay. LOVED Napali Catamaran!!!

There were 16 on my afternoon sail. No one got sick ... but I'd taken motion-sickness meds beforehand and so did many of the others. It was rocky and I was a little queasy at times. I think I would have been sick without the meds.

That said, there were moments that were absolutely magnificent!

I did take Meclizine (like in Bonine) before hand. Oh the reason I came back and posted is because the afternoons are fine, seriously, if you can't get a morning ride.
