Myrtle Beach: special dinner restaurants

DH and I will be in Myrtle Beach just before Thanksgiving, to attend a wedding. Our anniversary is the following day, so we will stay to celebrate there. Although we've been to MB many times, it has been to visit relatives. And the restaurants we've been to have been geared to families and casual situations. This time, we're looking for a more upscale, adult restaurant for an anniversary dinner. We'll probably be staying in the north section of Grand Strand, or even in North Myrtle Beach. Thanks for you help!

I like the Sea Captains House. It is on the beach. If you let them know it is an anniversary dinner when you make your reservation, you will likely be given a lovely table. It is a busy place. I wouldn't call it intimate, but that time of year it shouldn't be packed.

Franks in Pawleys Island
Greg Norman's North Myrtle Beach
Tommy Bahama Myrtle Beach
Ruth's Chris Myrtle Beach

I like but haven't eaten in a while:

Thoroughbreds between MB and NMB
Rossi's between MB and NMB

Gt's suggestion of Ruth Chris reminded me there is an Omaha Steak House inside of Embassy Suites. We've eaten there several times and it was good. White linen service. Ocean front table. I think part of your choice depends on what you want. If you want sea food select a local place, but there are some good chains for steak.

Not a question, go south to Pawley's Island and eat at Frank's or Maverick's. Best food on the SE coast.

Thank you all for your suggestions. So far, Throughbreds is our first choice.

I would try New York Prime if you want upscale. This is the address and phone number. It is closer to N. Myrtle Beach than you think. 405 28th Avenue North
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577-3001
(843) 448-8081
I took my wife there for our anniversary a couple of years ago and it was quite classy. They even placed sprinkles all over the table that said 'Anniversary'. Wife loved it!!!

I know everyone's ideas are different for food, but Thoroughbreds looks pretty pedestrian for a fine dining restaurant. Again, opinion, but when I go to the beach I want LOCAL seafood (as in NOT Alaskan kind crab legs, for pete's sake!! LOL). And I want it creatively cooked. Just me, if I was choosing.

If you haven't had a chance to look it up, The Parson's Table is in a quaint old church with a big collection of stained glass windows that were collected from churches which were being torn down. It is unique, not a chain. I don't know if the original owner is still around. He used to go from table to table singing Irish ballads. Perhaps someone else does this now.

Actually his Son does it now, but he still appears every once in a while.
