We are planning a trip to MB September 6th through 13th. We have a 2 year old son and this will be his first trip to the beach. We have been to MB in the past so we are aware of the pros and cons.
I would like to ask the experts if early September is a good time to visit. I am referring to weather [rain?]and the crowds.
We are considering the Carolina Winds - anyone been there recently? Is the area a good place for a 2 year old?

Early September would be an excellent time to go. Usually the weather is still fine and it's less crowded.
Although I have not stayed there, I understand that Carolina Winds is a very nice place to stay. We've always stayed at the Forest Dunes and love it. Website:www.forestdunes.com

It will still be very very hot in early September. Rain isn't usually a problem but you might encounter some afternoon thunderstorms.

The Carolina Winds is in a good residential area.

It will be hot, but most of the tourists will be gone because of school.

Hello Frank - I always go to Myrtle Beach in September. In fact, I'll also be there 9/6 - 9/13.

Twenty years ago, September was the absolute best time to go, since the rates dropped, the crowds were gone, and a few resturants/shops were still open.

It is still a good time to go, but there are more people (but no where near the peak) and many restaurants/shops are open year-round now. The weather is usually great, and we've only be chased away by a hurricane once in 20 years.

I don't know anything about the Carolina Winds, but I've taken small children before and they are usually content to play in the sand/pool.
From my experience, they play until they are exhausted, so make sure the baby gets plenty of rest and has a lot of sunscreen.

I would worry more about the parents and would try to insure mom and dad had free time to relax while the other parent took care of the baby. A trip to Ripley's Aquarium would be fun for everyone in my opinion.
