My new favorite restaurant in SF
We just returned from a wonderful week in San Francisco. In talking to a couple at the next table at dinner one night, we were told about the Restaurant Jeanne D'Arc downstairs in the Cornell Hotel on Bush Street. The restaurant was very pretty, and we liked the food so much we returned for a meal the next night. A four course meal was $30 each. We never would have found the restaurant without the suggestion from that couple.

Hi travelbug, I have never heard of this restaurant. $30.00 for a four course meal in SF is a very good bargain. Thanks for sharing.
May I ask what type of food is served?
I would be most interested in the restaurant but I can not eat Asian or Mexican due to food allergies. Thanks!

Hi Loveitaly,
The restaurant is French. The first course the two nights we ate there were cream soups; there were two choices for salads, and about 12 choices for entre, including a prawns and scallop dish, a wonderful melt-in-your mouth filet mignon in a mushroom sauce ($4 extra); other choices included fish, chicken, duck, rabbit, porc, lamb; these were served with an assortment of vegetables; One night the deserts were a choice of a white chocolate and raspberry mousse cake or creme caramel. They were the best two meals we had in San Francisco. I'd love to hear if you tried it and liked it. The waiter we had both nights was Dan - he's been there 20 years!

Hi Mellisa, I just Googled this hotel/restaurant. The website is www.conrellhotel.com.
The hotel looks wonderful and the restaurant looks very beautiful.
They are open Monday through Saturday and serve dinner from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, so they do not serve lunch.
Check out the website. Thanks again travelbug, when I get there I will let you know. The way my life is going right now however it might be awhile.
Take care.

Typing error! It is www.cornellhotel.com, sorry about that.
And yes Mellisa, there are so many restaurants in SF one could be there for a year (such a problem, LOL).

Hi MelissaH, I just saw your lovely invitation and I thank you so much!! I would love to join you for dinner however since I don't live in SF (I live in the southern end of the Sacramento Valley in Vacaville) I will not be in SF on the 13th. I will be in SF on Saturday the 16th however.
I truly wish I could join you for dinner on the 13th, that would be fun, and again thank you so much for the invitation.
How long will you be in SF?
Also, you mentioned that you will be in SF in October. I would be so happy to see you then and enjoy a wonderful meal with you. Sounds like Marilyn might be able to also.
Anyway, how long will you be in SF?

Well hello Underhill! I have seen other post by you but I had no idea we were neighbors! Your Davis is a beautiful town. Do you ever get down here to Vacaville?
BTW, anyone that wants to celebrate Bastille Day in SF should check out the restaurants in Beldon Place such as Plouf's etc. also. They always have quite a celebration.

Hi Melissa, does it have to be a French restaurant? If not SF has so many great places to eat. Also, could you see if your hotel could get you a reservation? Best wishes to you, have fun in SF and at the Sonoma wedding. Hope to see you in October.
