Multigenerational Vacation in March

Looking for a good place for a family going on their first vacation all together. Looking for predictably good warm weather at the end of March(we like beaches!) where there is something for everyone. Individual rooms or villas or even one house with at least three bedrooms.

Ages: Grandma & Grandpa 59
Two married kids & their spouses: 30-something
One Infant: 11 months

We live in Chicago.

How about getting condos in the same complex on one of the Hawaiian islands?

Florida would be a great choice. You could stay at a number of cities including Crescent Beach, which is just south of St. Augustine and has lots of condos, Orlando, Miami, the list goes on and on.

Everytime we have gone to Sanibel Island in March there are many multi-generational families there. There are many beachfront condos of all sizes to rent. Contact Priscilla Murphy realty for rental info.

Sanibel sounds like a good choice to us too. Do you know of any specific places to stay? We will call the travel agent suggested, but wondered if anyone had any "ins" with anyone who wanted to rent their place or any other specific suggestions for renting a condo or house for the 6 (plus a 1 yr old) of us or things to do in the area.

I wish that I owned a condo I could rent you! However, look into Sanibel Moorings--a very nice oceanfront condo complex. Aside from the beach, you can rent bicycles (child carriers available), go to the Ding Darling nature reserve,or go out on a shelling cruise. Do a search for Sanibel on this board and I think you will find other suggestions.

Sanibel Island is beautiful, but FYI anyplace in Florida is a bit of a crapshoot in terms of weather. You can have beauitful sunny days or cold rainy ones. Average temp is only 70F, and the sea water can be brisk. You may be better off in the Caribean, Cancun Mexico which are about 80F and dry in March. South Florida like Miami or the Keys might be OK, go as far south as you can. Hawaii is almost always a good choice, but a long flight, esp from the East Coast.

Take a look at weatherbase.com for historical average temps and rainfall.
