Accomodation in Sanibel Island/Captiva Area
Hi
Does anyone have any recommendations for decent but reasonably priced hotels (preferably with a kitchen area - as we have a toddler) in the Sanibel Island/Captiva area for either beginning-mid March? What's the weather like there at that time?
Thanks
KD

kdwyer, the average high for March is 80 degrees/low is 59 on Sanibel/Captiva.
You want a "decent but reasonably priced" hotel. That means different things to different people; better to give us a dollar figure per night or per week to help us help you.
One of the lower priced accommodations there is Palm View Motel ... attached units, with kitchenettes. Very cute, clean but you're a block+ off the beach, and there is no pool or good seating area outside your unit:

Sanibel is a wonderful place to vacation, but is not cheap, especially in March. Happy planning ...

Sigh, I thought the end of March would be the more pricey period because it's Easter break then. In any case, I don't have an actual dollar figure in mind... but I am beginning to realise it's probably going to cost more than I thought. I would a like a place with a pool but not necessarily beachside (though that would be nice)...and a kitchenette, how much per night are we looking at? Also we'd be open to February if the weather is still nice and it would be cheaper.
Thanks for your help. I've been looking on the Net but not been getting too much info...

How long do you plan on staying?? Would you consider renting a condo? There are lots of condos on www.vrbo.com if you are staying a week. Then you would have a kitchen also. I have had good luck renting from this site. You will definitely pay top dollar for March though!

kdwyer, approximately Feb. 1 to April 15 is high season on Sanibel; February will be no cheaper than March. If you really have no idea of what you can spend, it's hard to help you ... That time of year, you are looking at a good $200 night, and that's the minimum room in most places.
(I noticed The Palm View Motel site, by the way, hasn't been updated since 03/04 so those rates will be more than that by now ...)
