Mt. Rushmore, SD trip

I am planning a trip to see Mt Rushmore in September. Since everyone was so helpful last year in planning my trip, I am asking again for some help. How many days do I need? Where should I stay and what attractions should I not miss. We were planning on a week or ten days. Is that too much time? My husband and I like to see scenery and wildlife. We don't hike - only short walks. Thanks for your help. We are planning on flying into Rapid City, SD.

Check out this thread which has some useful tips:

I stayed at Sylan Lake Lodge in Custer State Park when visiting the area last year, and loved it. The rooms are definitely not terribly modern or fancy, but the location is great

Try this link instead, and if it doesn't work, search for Wyoming South Dakota and see a recent thread on a trip in the area;

Thanks for all the help. My trip is planned and I would like to ask if there are any restaurants that I should not miss. We will be staying at the following towns - 1 night Wall, one night Keystone, 2 nights, Sylvan Lake, 1 night Deadwod, 1 night Spearfish and 1 night in Rapid City.

In Spearfish Roma's is a fantastic Italian resturant, for steaks the chop house at the entrance to Spearfish Canyon is really quite good. In Rapid I love the fire House brewing company downtown...it's great and fun! There isn't much at all in Wall you might want to go onto Rapid instead! Go through Hill City on your way to or from Mt. Rushmore....there is the Black Hills Instutite there with dinosaur bones...it's a really neat little town with fun places to eat.
