Mountain cabin needed with good trail access
We have a friend who needs a couple more trips to make the super duper elite frequent flyer level with his airline. He has developed a fantasy about flying from L.A. to the east coast, renting a beautiful cabin in the woods, and doing nothing but 3 hour trail runs and working on his computer.
He is 50ish, single, doesn't like to go out and will cook all his own meals. Sounds like fun, huh? I could use some suggestions about upstate New York, perhaps, a rental cabin in a forest he could get to somewhat easily in a rental car that would have wi-fi access and miles of trails right out the door?
(I don't think there is such a thing in California)

Another place to search would be the White Mountains of New Hampshire. LOTS of trails in the area, but also lots of places to stay. You can choose a cabin in the middle of nowhere or a five-star resort. Some of these lodgings do provide wi-fi, I'm sure, as most B&Bs we've stayed at have that amenity.

I just saw this. All doable. He should go to http://www.adkbyowner.com/search/Vacation-Rentals.html
There are many options.

I saw a story today on Yahoo about a New York state resort owned by B-52's singer Kate Pierson that looked really cool. I'm going to try and talk my wife into a weekend there with our kids at some point.
