We are receiving heavy wet snow here in the Flathead valley of western Montana. So much for global warming.
Thought it was kind of neat till I realized I'm losing branches from trees and lilac bushes are drooping to the ground. Time to get the broom out and whack the heavy wet snow off the branches and hope for the best.
Anyone on the east coast want relief from the heat??

John, I'm in the northcentral area of MT. We lost our lilac bushes last month (15 inches of snow and nine below zero).

We were at a wedding in southwestern MT this weekend; it was spitting snow on the bride and groom.

I'm wishing for some warmer weather.

Geesh! I'm in Bozeman and we've got a whopper of a thunder, lighting and hailstorm going on right now. It's coming down in buckets! Snow is in our forecast for tomorrow.

Was in the Bitterroot all last weekend and the weather was much better there than here.

Hi fellow Rockies dwellers. We've had cold and wet weather in the Wasatch too, but probably not quite as bad as yours. At least my lilacs are blooming now - a couple weeks late.

I'm in NC and we'd like a little cooler weather (though snow doesn't quite sound appealing! LOL!) My car's temp read 106 yesterday when I got in. It did drop...to 100. Ack.

Too. Hot. Too. Early.

It's 97 in NJ and climbing. It's humid, hot, and pretty much unbearable to be outside. But I can't complain. I'll take the heat over snow anyday.

It is very cold here in western Washington too. No snow at sea level where I live, but the mountain passes have snow and the "traction tires advised" signs are up.

It was the coldest and latest Spring in decades here in IL.

In MI this weekend and in IL- in BOTH of my towns there were tornado touchdowns. And I missed both of them. I have a lucky stick up my butt, is what a fellow lake dweller told me.

On my near to 1000 acres lake, there are only about 40 houses, and in one cove, not 2 blocks in walking distance from me, all the homes had damage, and the the 3 in the middle lost their roofs or had a tree demolish the roof and fall right inside, which is worse.

One of those was a just rehabbed home that was 70% new as of about 4 months ago.

But I did get to swim at length on June 9th- so that IS an upside to a short heat spell.

One upside, another, is that the blossoms were SO late and didn't get the April freeze, and because of that fact- the cherry, peach (especially these)and apples look to be phenomenal in number this year.

We are astounded at the peach especialy. One little tree, pretty young, at my son's house, was a volunteer, sprouted from a throwaway and it has over 100 peach baby's over the grape sized already.
We are figuring out a way to help support its branches as I bet they start to break off with the weight of the fruit. This same tree had 17 peaches on it last year.

Enough water now though- too many trees down and the roads/highways are wet to the max in IN. with lots of people flooded out.

John, I think that is what global warming is all about (maybe climate change is what it should be called). Ask the "drowning" folks in the midwest, the heat wave so early in the year, the drought, record setting number of tornadoes etc. Don't think the tomato trauma is related, however!!!

You're better off than we are. The THI today was well over a hundred - with an actual temp of 97 - hot even for August - never mind June. Out winter was also very warm - although spring was coolish.

NJ - I love where I live and all the weather, snow especially! It could snow all year round here and I would choose it over the East coast humidity any day! I'm a desert girl for sure.

Oh I would love to be up there!!!!! I live in south Louisiana and the heat and humidity are doing me in!!!! I despise summer!!!!!!!

Heavy rains in WI. caused Lake Delton (WI Dells) to overflow its banks and empty into the river. I can't imagine what the resort owners and other seasonal attractions are going to do. I'm sure they were looking forward to a busy summer and now----nothing.
News reports are saying that it will take the entire summer to make repairs to the embankment and refill the over 200 acre man-made lake.

WOnder what Yellowstone weather is like right now. I'll have to check the Old Faithfull Cam.

John, we got the snow this morning. Three inches of it. My trees are snapping. My tomatoes are flattened. I can't see the flowers.

I'm in Idaho and woke up to snow this morning..... guess I'll be replanted the Basil.

Last weekend we were at our cabin on Hebgen Lake and watched someone "water ski in a snow storm"... and without a wet suit. Guess with all of this odd weather you just have to persever

John, are you saying that this sort of snowstorm at this time of year is "normal" where you live?

Not "normal" but has happened before. The last June snow was in 2001.
Records show that it is possible and indeed has snowed every month of the year though it normally melts fast.
It's almost all melted this morning but Glacier Park is expecting 1 to 2 feet in higher elevations.

Weather is strange all over. But I'm a bit "amused" at the idea that a snowstorm in June somehow indicates "so much for global warming". Perhaps you need to read what the effects of global warming are. It does not simply mean that the temperatures are going to be higher everywhere.
