Motels/ Panama City/Pensacola

Any suggestions for one night? We have a condo in Seagrove for a week, but want to leave a day early.
Just a cheap (clean) motel in the area. Not on the beach--even in a surrounding town

thanks

I don't think there's a need to stay anywhere besides Seagrove. Two reasons: (1) It's an easy 5 hour drive from Seagrove to Atlanta, (2) Seagrove is in close proximity to the best offerings of the Florida Panhandle.

Seagrove is very close to the upscale Seaside, Watercolor and SanDestin communities. Check out the charming cottages in Seaside. Visit Modica market and the surrounding shops. Eat at Bud & Alleys and the Red Bar. Watercolor is right next to Seaside. Be sure to walk around the Watercolor Inn. Bike riding is the best way to enjoy all 3 of these communities. In SanDestin, don't miss Baytowne Wharf.

Note that Panama City is less than 1 hour from Seagrove and is much more commercialized. Therefore, if you want to see PC, I'd make it a day-trip. (I was in the area 2 weeks ago and I left SanDestin to check out Panama City. Big mistake. SanDestin is much more charming).

Pensacola has an outstanding Naval museum. If this interests you, I'd definitely see it. You could spend the night in Pensacola ... however, it's only a couple of hours from Seagrove.

Oops! Maybe I didn't make myself clear. We will be staying in Seagrove for a week in a condo--my hubby and I just wanted to get down a day earlier--not many hotels in that area. Have considered Ft. Walton for a night--all hotels very expensive or booked. We really want economical and clean--don't even mind driving a little ways to the beach--it's just one night before we meet up with our group to stay at a condo.

thanks!

Okay, a few more questions...when is this trip and can I assume you will be coming from Atlanta through Pensacola and then taking Hwy 98 to Seagrove?

Coming from Atlanta, Pensacola would be out of the way.

We would probably come I10 to 331 to Ft Walton--but we could re route
i got a quote from Priceline--Pensacola--little hesitant about the beaches/area there due to Hurricane damage.

Ideas? Remember, just one night to park our tired bodies before we head over to Seagrove for a week

Okay, I was thinking if you were coming Hwy 98 by way of P'Cola you could stop in Navarre for the night. But, since you'll be arriving via 331 I would suggest you check with the hotel sites and just find something really close to Santa Rosa Beach. I'm sure there's a basic Quality Inn, etc. where you could stay the night before you head over to Seagrove. Sorry I can't be of more help.
