Motels
We are looking for very cheap motels near Denver. We are going to Red Rocks for one night and will be around Denver for 4 total. We want to keep it very cheap and don't care about amenities, etc., but just want to be sure it is in a safe area. We will have a car and don't mind driving a little. ANy thoughts would be much appreciated.

In 1999 we were in a similar situation. We got in to Denver late in the afternoon, went to a Rockies game and left first thing the next morning. Like you, we didn't want to spend a lot. We stayed at a Motel 6.
It wound up being a miserable experience. We'd requested a non-smoking room. But all of them were on the road side of the motel. And this motel was just off the interstate. So my husband felt he'd rather go with a smoking room on the quiter side. Big mistake! That room absolutely reeked!
Having said all of that, it was cheap and it was in a safe neighborhood! If you think you might be interested, check Motel 6's web site. I don't remember for sure which interstate it was on but I think it might have been I 70. And I know there were two Motel 6's, one on either side of the road.
