Like to walk? On a nice day in April:
Take the Metro to the Arlington Cemetery stop. Walk over to see the Tomb of the Unknowns, visit the Kennedys, among too many others. Walk across the Memorial bridge and enjoy the 360 views. Walk over to the FDR, the V.Nam and other memorials. Walk over to the Jefferson Memorial and enjoy the cherry blossoms. Sakura Matsuri, des.
To the Washington Monument, Holocaust Museum, Smithsonian. The Capitol.
In the evening, stroll around Georgetown or Old Town Alexandria.
You can walk to all of that in a day.
Not me, I'd take tourist bus.

for sheer serendipity and no real fear of taking a wrong turn into an undesirable area..san francisco is truly a walkable city.
for a treasure trove of urban pizazz and historical richness in a small area..philadelphia.
for uninterrupted pleasure along a waterfront...san diego
for smells and plant life...fort lauderdale
but my choice for most walkable city?
it goes to atlantic city...you gots everything along that boardwalk.
GO EAGLES!!!!!!!
