Montauk in May
My wife and I are going to Montauk in May for our anniversary. We are thinking of staying at Panoramic View. We can choose between the Valley View, Point of View, and The High Point. Does anyone know anything about this place? Should we stay here and if so what building?
Thanks for your help.

According to what I had heard and confirmed by tripadvisor reviews, the place is being converted to condos. Are you sure they're open?

If they are, I would ask whether there is still construction going on. Here's a small map from the website that shows which building is where.

Not only is the ocean not condusive to swimming, but it really won't be beach weather unless you are really really lucky. That said, there are some good restaurants, and you can ride into East Hampton, etc. But don't expect to be laying on the beach.

I grew up going to Amagansett (right near Montauk) all winter and through to summer. May is a glorious time because the summer crowds haven't arrived yet, but the weather is usually a beautiful springtime warm.
I don't know any places to stay in Montauk, but perhaps check with the Chamber of Commerce for updates that aren't coming from the hotel itself.

Thank you everyone for your help. I do relize it is not beach weather but it should still be nice. I can't really afford Montauk during beach season. Is there someplace else I should be staying or is Panoramic View good?

The Panoramic View has been a good place. I just don't know how the condo conversion has affected things nor do I know how much you're looking at paying or what you're looking for. The photos on their own website look like the decor is pretty dated in the rental units. Wave Crest is another option that might be just as good and perhaps cheaper. I'd look on tripadvisor if you haven't already and read all the reviews and look at the other options.
If you're not wedded to the idea of Montauk, there are also some nice options on the ocean in Amagansett like Ocean Colony.

I stayed in one of the beach houses at Panoramic View a few years ago. It was quite nice and the beach is beautiful. There aren't many amenities on site so you're mainly there for the view and the beach.
I haven't stayed in any of the other rooms but my guess would be, of the three choices you have, "Point of View" might be the best choice if the room faces the ocean (it looks like some of those rooms might face toward the parking lot). I'd say if you can get an oceanview "Point of View" room, take that. Otherwise, "High Point" might be my 2nd choice.
Bear in mind, I haven't stayed in either building but this is just from looking at the map and my memories of the place.

If I could suggest another option, we used to spend Easter weekend in Montauk, for years..we stayed at a couple of different places along the Old Montauk Highway, just past Gurneys Inn.
One is Lenharts cottages..with fireplaces.

This can come in handy on chilly nights in the Spring.
The others name is escaping me, they changed owners and names and I can only remember the original, but it was quite charming with a little wood paneled living room with a nice fireplace, kitchen, bath and cozy bedrooms and you walked across the street, down the path to the beach..
It has been a while since we were there, but I really hope that it has not changed that much since then
