Dinosaur NM

Hey! So we're taking a week long trip driving around Colorado in August and we were thinking of making a stop at Dinosaur National Monument. It is a bit out of the way, but may be worth a day.

What is there to do there? We have four boys ages 10-22.

How much time would be enough to see the main features of the park?

Are there any towns nearby to stay in?

Is the entrance in Colorado or Utah?

Thanks!

You may want to check the NPS site. It is showing the main visitors center closed.

Under the conditions, you have better alternatives. My main recall was seeing bones in the hard rock matrix and marvelling at the time and skill it takes to extract the bones undamaged.

Well does the closure mean the dinosaur bone area are still open?

Has anyone been here lately?

This URL should sum it up:

www.nps.gov/dino/planyourvisit/things2know.htm

You can't see the main cache of dinosaur bones where they are located. You can see some impressive scenery, but you can see a lot of that elsewhere. If you were hoping to see dinosaur bones, forget the trip.
