Thank for the responses...
So we keep Billings for arrival base, for
Little Big Horn,...
I've found some good hikes around helena and so I keep it, then 4 days at Glacier, the days at Dude ranch.
I'll certainly take Bozeman more than Butte to end the travel and if possible a flight from Bozeman to fly back home and if this is possible we'll stay
4 nights in the ranch...
Erik.
PS : The year after, we'll be in Wyoming, but "c'est une autre histoire...".

We live in the Bozeman area and are long time residents of Montana, here are a few comments. Keep in mind the distances between destinations in this region are fairly great, particularly in comparison to Europe. Be sure to check out driving maps & distances. Driving speeds are 75 MPH on the Interstate Highways and 70 in all state roads, unless posted otherwise. Also, many of the tourist destinations are certainly worth seeing, but there is considerable open country between them. To many of us in this area, the openness and remoteness is the most beautiful part of Montana. Don't just watch the road, check out the surrounding country, there is a LOT to see. Take time to watch a sunrise and sunset in open country, amazing! Try to not push yourself to much, and enjoy the open spaces and beauty of the region. Some tips: the best time to see Montana is September through November - after school is in session and before it gets too cold. It can snow here any month of the year, be prepared. Take time to spend time late at night watching the sky, it can be stunning. Watch for animals (big ones) while driving at night, they make a mess out of a car. Keep your headlights on bright (except with on coming cars) and watch for bright eyes along the sides of the road - and use your car horn if you think you see anything. Wildlife is mostly seen a couple of hours after sunrise and a couple hours just before sunset (which can be as late as 10 pm. This is BIG COUNTRY be sure to not try to DO IT ALL in one trip. Keep in mind the best part of your trip may be the journey between desitinations, not the destination itself.
Hope this helps.
