Sunday night is a bit slow on here; and its late in a good part of the US.
I don't know when you want to go [summer will be high prices] or what you consider too pricey - can you give an idea?
Will you have a car and will you drive a ways to stay in a place?
Here's a site that might give you ideas:
http://www.mystic.org/discounts/hotels.php
Also, have you tried googling Mystic hotels or something similar?

Mohegan Sun is near I-95 where you can find some of the standard motels. Try looking under New London, Mystic areas in Expedia or travelocity. By the way, I would call the motel directly as I have gotten lower prices by doing that. Good luck- JKR

Kimmos, if you don't have car, how will you get to a hotel? There is bus service to Mohegan Sun, but there aren't necessarily great public transportation options to nearby towns.
Also when are you going? Saturday nights are very expensive in all nearby areas, and the area around Mystic is busy all summer.
And how much do you actually want to spend for a room?
all of this info may help us give you more specific suggestions

Have a look at the Microtel in Uncasville. Economy hotel, about 1.25 miles from Mohegan, with generally favorable reviews on TripAdvisor. Frequent shuttle service is confirmed in many reviews. If you can get yourself to Mohegan Sun, you can take the shuttle to any hotel which offers that service (shuttles go both directions).
We'll be staying there (to attend "Dancing with the Stars" at Mohegan Sun) in July.
Will report back. But, recommend making a reservation now (taking note of the cancellation policy). You never know what might be going on, even in November, that will fill up all the hotels. The Mohegan Sun rooms were completely booked before "Dancing with the Stars" dates were announced.

I know this is an old post, but your trip hasn't passed yet, so I thought I would give my 2 cents.
I see from other posts, you are coming into NYC. Depending on how long you're staying here, there is no reason to stay overnight by Mohegan, especially without a car.
There are buses from Port Authority that will take you to Mohegan Sun and also the nearby Foxwoods for about $35 round trip. This might be a much better option for you and will save you a hotel stay.
However, if you do choose to stay overnight, I have stayed in many hotels in the area, the one I can recommend is the Best Western in Norwich/Uncasville (which does have a shuttle, I think they actually have a limo shuttle).
Any other hotel, other than the Microtel already mentioned will require a cab to Mohegan Sun, and it might get pricey.

I just booked a trip through Priceline. Got a room at a 3 star hotel WITH FREE shuttle service to BOTH casino's for $65.00 a night. It's a Holiday Inn, in Norwich. That would be your best bet.... but if you don't plan on having a car, it could make things extremely complicated.
Good luck
Good luck
