Moab weather in early November
My family would like to visit Moab Nov. 9-13. What could we expect for weather? We plan on hiking. What are the chances of snow in the area in that time of year? There is a possibility we could go Oct 8- would that be a significantly better time to go, weather wise? Thanks

Hi
My husband and I are from England and we visit the USA on average twice per year. We have twice been to Moab, having first found it in November 1998 when we fell in love with the area.
Weather-wise...well one morning we woke up and looked out of our motel window to find our car covered in ice so thick such as we don't have here in Great Britain. However, after a little while, with the windscreen heater on full blast and bit of patience, the rental car was in action no problem. That same day we drove to Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point (just breathtakingly beautiful) and one day we went into Arches NP (don't miss it) and hiked from the car park to Delicate Arch. Truly, there could not have been a better time to go...the sky as blue as I've ever seen it (I now refer to it as 'Utah Blue') and the sun, wintery warm on our faces, felt like a blessing. Hardly a soul in the park, we came face to face with deer and smaller critters. We took a picnic and our hot soup and sandwiches were eaten in silence halfway through the walk and in awe of the scale and magificence of this beautiful place.
So, yes it's cold, well, it's Utah...but not the kind of miserable damp cold we get here. We didn't really notice it and we did our homework on the weather conditions and were prepared for anything. The roads were clear, safe and very little traffic. I seem to recall that in November 1998, we were paying 99c per gallon for fuel, tops!
Our next trip, in May 2002, accommodation was a little more expensive but not much more, and everything else reflected the fact that there were more visitors.
My advice is, November is a great time to go to Moab, which is wonderful at any time of year, but then the air is crisp and sweet and so clear you can see for miles.
Good luck
Joan
