Milwaukee, Wisconsin in late April?
DH has a meeting in Milwaukee in April. I already have plans to make a trip to Hawaii in May '07 and may have difficulty getting additional time off in order to accompany DH.
We've never been to Wisconsin. What will I be missing if I don't go? I know they produce alot of cheese, other than that, I need help. Is it worth 5 days, late April, esp. if vacation time is 'tight'?

I lived in Milwaukee for 42 years, and I hate to "dis" my hometown..... but I must. If your vacation time is rare, DON'T WASTE IT HERE.....especially if you're going in April.
The weather can be crappy, there's really only one major brewery to visit, and the festivals don't start until late June.

I've lived in MKE most of my life but vacation here in April? Nope. No comparison to Hawaii. We do have a little more to offer than cheese and there are some very interesting and beautiful things to see and wonderful warm people but not even a close trade of 5 days.

Spring is not the prettiest season in Milwaukee. April is likely to be cold and rainy.
That being said, I think there are quite a few fun things to do:
Milwaukee Art Museum (www.mam.org) Milwaukee Public Museum (www.mpm.edu)
Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin (www.discoveryworld.org)
Public Market(www.milwaukeepublicmarket.org)
the shops of the Third Ward (www.historicthirdward.org)
a baseball game at covered Miller Park
a dinner cruise on the glass enclosed Edelweis (www.weissgerbers.com)
Plus, we have lots of interesting restaurants, and several wonderful theater companies.

Oooh... these posts hurts. I live in downtown Milwaukee and love it here. That being said....and this really hurts....if vacation time is that tight, I'd skip it too. There are wonderful, cool restaurants in Milwaukee, great museums, yada yada yada. But....I can appreciate your tight schedule. Please come in July! The amazing blue sky over Lake Michigan, the festivals by the lake and throughout the city, the sidewalk cafes (more and more of which keeping popping up every year), the Third Ward, east side neighborhoods...

I also live in the greater Milwaukee area and would agree with others as to an April visit but...........DH will be here and if he has some free time and would like to see the city drop me an email and I will be sure he has a good time! (much more here than just cheese)
