Michel's -- great oceanfront location (wear sunglasses if you'll be there before dark), gracious service, upscale menu. It's definitely one of the "fine dining" experiences on O`ahu. If you're wanting to be there for sunset, I'd suggest you ask for a non-window table (unless you really enjoy sweating before sunset) *-)

Another option I'd recommend -- giving you a birds eye view of Waikiki -- is Aaron's at the top of the Ala Moana Hotel. Great service, great menu, and outstanding view up Waikiki to Diamond Head.

We have enjoyed Michael's a couple of times over the years very much. It's been there a long time. True about the sunset in your eyes.

We spent an anniversary dinner at Orchid's Restaurant, ocean level, at the Halekulani Hotel on Waikiki Beach. The dining room with open windows and patio, had a sunset view of Diamond Head that was the best. They are known for their seafood.

I saw that you posted about Aaron's vs. Alan Wong's. Just a suggestion, you MIGHT want to consolidate your questions into one post to limit your own confusion over what to choose. Is the choice now between Michels, Alan Wong's, or Aarons? Or is Michel's a choice for a different day? It's definitely a winner. If you decide not to do dinner, Michel's is a fab place to go for beachside brunch.
