Miami Weather

Mu husband has a business trip to Miami in mid December. The kids and I were thinking of tagging along, but I'm concerned about the weather. Is it generally warm enough to swim in the pools or ocean this time of year?
Thanks

So far weather has been like summer with little humidity, today temp is 85 F. Mid December , during the day is warm and sunny, nights are breeze and mild....lots of swimming pools are heated and the ocean is not that bad..once you are in and the sun is heating, water feels ok. Make sure you take your kids to The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables... it is incredible.

Not to be a naysayer, but we go to Miami in early December for an event at the university. Last year was very cold--I wore my clothes from the plane all weekend. The cold snap lasted almost a wek, according to my daughter.

Checking the history of Miami on Weather Underground, I see that last December 7, it was a high of 69 and low of 48 -- that was the worst day. Mostly through the month in was lows of low to mid 60's and highs in the 70's and 80's. Some of us Florida "natives" may feel that is freezing -- but most "snowbirds" think that's fine for swimming.

Well, all I know is that it was too cold to be on the terrace at the party location on Parrot Island, on the night of December 7, and too cold to much enjoy sitting around the pool at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables at other times on the weekend, and too cold to wear sandels on Saturday night, December 6 at a waterfront restaurant. And I'm from Chicago.
