I did about the proximity...I really was more interested in peoples opinion of the hotel, the other was just a "bonus". I'm sure the hotel would tell me they were fantastic, but that's not necessarily the way "we" might think.

DO NOT STAY THERE.....here's my story.
I was supposed to stay at the Hampton Inn in Coconut Grove. I called when I arrived in Miami that I'd be arriving late to the hotel because I was going straight out to meet some friends for dinner/drinks. They told me "no problem"
When I got to the hotel at about midnight or so, they told me that they gave up my room because I didn't check in by 10:00. I told them I called, but the person that was working then had gone home and left no note.
They told me they had one room that I could look at, but had an air-conditioner problem, um....yeah, the problem was it leaked on the floor and the carpeting was soaking wet. To make a long story short, they called the other Hampton Inn and told me I could stay there for the night, and then talk to the manager in the morning, and get a room back at the one in the grove.
So, I go to the Hampton Inn on Brickell Ave....it's really a Motel (outside doors, 2 levels...etc.) The front desk woman couldn't stop flirting with the security guard, until I finally spoke up and asked if she'd help me. She gave me a room key and I went up (and outside) to my room. When I entered the room, I was surprised that somebody was asleep in it....the guy wakes up and starts to yell...(thinking I'm robbing him or something...)
I go back to the desk, interupt the girl again, and she says "There was somebody in that room ? Hm...that's weird there shoudln't be..." and then keeps trying to tell me that there "shouldn't be"...finally I just tell her that there is and I need a new room...
I get the key to that one, and make my way to that room and alas there's nobody in it...it's now about 2:00 and I'm ready for bed...I put the little "do not disturb" card into the key slot and go to bed. At about 7:00am i hear a knock on my door, I'm afraid to answer it, but I see that it's the security guard....I open the door and he tells me that I left my key in the door......I look at himn and said "No, that's not a key, that's a DO NOT DISTURB SIGN!"
Anyway, I was up, and just decided to head over to the Grove Hampton Inn and start in on the Manager at that one a little bit earlier then expected.
Eventually got into that hotel, and after I told the manager my story, he comped my whole stay.
Sorry for the LONG story, but as I started typing it all just kept coming back....so, if I were you, I'd pick another hotel...that one is not in a good location, not much right around there...except the on/off ramp to 95.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.......It doesn't seem like the place for me. I looked it up on tripadvisor again after I posted this (couldn't find it on there the first time) and all but 1 said it was a good place, but the 1 was like you and had a terrible experience. I was going to use my hilton honors points on it. GLAD I didn't do that! SOrry you had such a bad time. Hopefully your stay got better and the "comp" helped out a little bit
