Miami Beach for Christmas - any suggestions
Myself & my husband are heading off for a 7 day break in Miami for Christmas (Dec22-29). Would welcome all suggestions on best way to get from airport to hotel (Four Points Sheraton - is this any good??) without having to hire a car? also some recommendations on must see places / things to do while we're there. Not sure how big Christmas is over in US - think Thanksgiving is the bigger celebration so where would be the best place to eat/celebrate on Christmas Day?....it'll be our first time there - looking forward to visiting Miami & hearing back recommendations etc.....thanks a mill.....

The Four Points is a dump. Try elsewhere. Also, Mid Beach in Miami isn't the greatest area to stay in and you definitely need a car if you stay in that area.
South Beach is the only area where not only do you not need a car, but they are a hinderance.
Try these hotels:
Courtyard by Marriott (not on beach but uber cool rooftop pool)
South Seas
Doubletree Surfcomber
Cordoza

All of Go's advice (Hi, Go!
) is spot-on. The Cardozo is my personal fave, but the Surfcomber is a superb choice.
Xmas is a huge deal in the US. Don't know where you got the idea that Thanksgiving was "bigger".
That said, I'll be interested to see if you can find good lodging at this late hour. At a rate you'll pay.

For the Cardozo:
http://www.cardozohotel.com/
They're slowly updating the site-- they've added info on the new restaurant Emilio Estefan put in, Oriente (Emilio and his wife, singer Gloria Estefan, own the Cardozo).
