At the advice of Ted, frequent poster, we stayed at the Metropolitan and had a wonderful time. It's easy access to everything, as he said, and we appreciated that. We also took all of his recommendations that were on the board over a 6 month period and were pleased with all his recommendations. Good luck.

Hi Ted!
I'm so thrilled you responded! Your advice was the most informative and enthusiastic of anyone on the board. We are so appreciative of all your advice. We especially enjoyed the Campbell Apts, the walk over the Brooklyn Bridge at dusk, dinner at Grimaldi's, ice cream across the street, dinner at New Eastern Villa restaurant...I had the peking duck you recommended.... the walk along the promenade, Brooklyn heights, Montague St. and soooo much more. You are so amazing....extremely courteous and such a gentleman. We were in NYC 6/14/-19 celebrating our anniversary..my first trip and with your help you helped make our trip so memorable! sincerely, Mary ([email protected])

Hi, I have stayed at the Sofitel before and enjoyed it. How would the Metropolitan compare to the Sofitel? I understand the Met is a 3 star and the Sofitel is a 4, but Met seems to be less expensive. So, I am trying to get a value judgement and know how much (if anything) I would be giving up.
Thanks!
Thanks!

The Sofitel is a better quality hotel than either the Roosevelt or the Metropolitan. Of course, it's also more expensive. Both the Roosevelt and the Metropolitan are perfectly fine but not luxurious places. I prefer the Roosevelt's location so it would be my choice of the two.
